Biography: Dr. Sabine Bährer-Kohler is a holder of a Doctorate in Social Science (Dr. rer.soc) from the University of Tübingen, a Diploma in Education from the University of Education – Freiburg, and a Diploma in Social Work and Social Education from the Protestant University of Applied Sciences-Berlin. Dr. Bährer-Kohler is currently Invited Professor at Tropical Neurology and Neuroinfection Master, International University of Catalonia (UIC), Barcelona. She has her own company in Basel, Switzerland for counseling clients with burnout symptoms and provides training for companies and organizations in this context and in mental health. Over the last 12 years, she has lectured students worldwide on social factors influencing health, mental health promotion, and prevention, with a focus on global and international perspectives, and she lectures on sustainability and challenges of international social work. Since 2009 she is the IFSW (International Federation of Social Workers) representative at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, contributing to the ICD-10 revision process to ICD-11, and serves as president of the Swiss Association for Mental Health - Global Mental Health. Dr. Bährer-Kohler is a reviewer for nine international journals and a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Community & Family Medicine and Cambridge Scholars Publishing- Editorial Advisory Group Member- Neuroscience. She has more than 100 publications to her credit, including six scientific books. Dr. Bährer-Kohler has given more than 75 major congress presentations and contributions in Switzerland and abroad. Dr. Bährer-Kohler’s current research interests include Global Mental Health Promotion& Prevention, Health through the Life- Course, Social Determinants, Dementia/ Alzheimer’s Disease, International& European Mental Health Authorities, and International Social Work.
