Figure 2: We created a tube of approximately 1.5 - 2 cm in diameter. A length of 10 to 12 cm was required to bring the tubularized colon tension free out as a "neoanus". The colonic tube was made by stapler resection of the colonic pouch along the whole circumference preserving the mesenteric vascular pedicle to ensure sufficient blood supply.
