Nerve conduction velocity was measured with a median nerve stimulus electrode placed on the ventral side of the third finger’s distal joint, while recording electrodes were placed on the ventral wrist and elbow. Median nerve cooling was performed by lowering the skin temperature of the area, referred to as “cooling” in the diagram. Superficial sensation during the experiment was measured on the ventral side of the second finger’s distal joint.
