Arteriosclerosis is common in chronic- phase KD patients. Atherosclerosis may have an earlier onset in patients with a prior history of KD when other predisposing conditions linked to increased oxidative stress, such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obesity, smoking, or stress are also present.
